AMY LONG, 2nd degree

Amy Long is a second degree black belt in American Kenpo Karate. She has trained under a variety of instructors, all with kenpo karate, since the tender age of 11. She has studied under Vinton Koklich - 9th Dan (ret.), Grandmaster Ray Arquilla (10th Dan), Bob Liles (9th Dan), Richard LaFave (deceased.), and Darryl Liner, among others.

She spent several years learning the Tracy style of American Kenpo and even more years studying the Ed Parker style, most recently from the Grandmaster Larry Tatum lineage, from whom she has attended many seminars and several camps.

Most recently, with her partner Tara Turnbull, she has begun the next leg of her kenpo journey working with a variety of kenpo greats..

If you've taken karate from other schools, you're welcome to come to ours, as well as people who are new. We are very accepting and we're a lot of fun.

TARA TURNBULL, 1st degree

Tara Turnbull is a first-degree black belt in American Kenpo Karate, having trained in the Parker Kenpo system since 1986. She also trained for two and a half years with Guru Herb Blue in Modern Arnis- a Filipino stick fighting system. Her Kenpo instructors have included Mr. Bill Maderas, Mr. Phil Streeter (1st Dan- now deceased), Mr. Gary Cropley (1st Dan), and Mr. Gordon Buck (2nd Dan). Tara most recently trained with Mr. Scott Halsey (6th Dan), for 12 years.

Tara has attended many seminars with Mr. Richard “Huk” Planas (a 10th degree black belt and Grand Master in Kenpo Karate) and has been under his lineage for the length of her Kenpo training.

Tara loves to instruct both children and adults in the martial arts. She is excited about teaching with her friend and business partner Amy Long. They share a passion for the martial arts, love to meet new people and are looking forward to sharing and passing on what they have learned over the years.

Please drop by and vist any of the classes. If you'd like to try out a class or two before joining, you are most welcome!
